Prysmian the Preferred Supplier for 1GW HVDC Cable Between Singapore and Malaysia
Prysmian has been selected as the preferred supplier for a planned subsea cable project aimed at importing an estimated 1 GW of green electricity from Sarawak, Malaysia, to Singapore. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance renewable energy integration in the region.
Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, and Sarawak Energy Services Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s largest renewable energy developer, Sarawak Energy Berhad, have entered into a preferred supplier agreement with Prysmian. The agreement involves collaboration with technical partner SP PowerInterconnect to optimize the design, installation methodology, and protection requirements for the subsea interconnector cable. The project is subject to various regulatory approvals before it can proceed.
This partnership underscores Prysmian's expertise in delivering complex submarine cable systems, which are crucial for connecting regions and facilitating the global energy transition. Prysmian has a proven track record in supplying high-voltage cables for both land and sea, supporting major energy projects worldwide, including offshore wind farms and intercontinental connections.
